The comment of someone named Ahcee Flores on Yahoo.
A few hours after a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit Cebu, Western Visayas and some parts of Mindanao today, a new campaign was born. It is called the “Kill Ahcee Flores Movement.”
This movement stemmed from the comment of a certain Ahcee Flores on Yahoo News. It said and I quote, “let us pray…na matuloy ang tsunami para maraming bisaya ang mamatay, para mabawasan ang mga baduy sa pilipinas.”
Naturally, that comment sparked an outrage in the internet community. And when there was much hoopla already, a person started a page called “Ahcee Flores”. The person behind it (though it is not known if it is really Ahcee Flores, or if he is a real person at all), keeps posting taunting messages about this impending disaster.
Now, I will not start defending the Cebuanos. That is already moot. We all know that Cebuanos are as much people as everyone else. And whoever this Ahcee is, he has never met the bigwigs of the south who are educated, classy and filthy rich who just happen to speak the language.
Anyway, what I would like to point out is that whoever this person is, this comment is really made out of bad taste. Even if it is a joke, it is not a nice one. It is totally uncool, to borrow the terminology of today’s generation.
Another thing that I would like to point out is that this Ahcee person has sparked so much hate amongst many people, young and old, Cebuano or not. But if anything, this person is just basking in his or her newfound popularity. Even the person who started the Ahcee Flores account on FB has gained more than 200 followers already as of 6pm. As he posts taunting messages, the hate message also overflow.
Please, let us stop this. The more we cater to this person’s twisted idea of entertainment, the more he is enjoying it. Don’t give it to him. For all we know, he will come out after this and become an instant celebrity. That will make him win.
Let us not fight hate with hate. Let us ignore him and like a sore, it will go away. Hating him will just fuel whatever negativism is in him.
And to the rest of us, may the good Lord let His grace and mercy shine upon us and spare us from this calamity. We have felt three aftershocks already.

Goodness gracious. It’s disturbing, really. What that Ahcee Flores said is certainly tasteless (and terribly, terribly insulting), but I have to agree with you. Apparently, hate generates hate and the whole thing is suddenly becoming alarmingly ironic…
